Twenty miles northeast of Seattle, at the northern end of the Sammamish Valley, City of Woodinville residents enjoy the rural charm of wooded residential areas and horse trails, along with a thriving downtown business center. The City is strategically situated offering convenient access to several major highways: I-405, SR 522 and SR 202.
Woodinville has a Council/Manager form of government. Each of the seven City Council members are elected by the people to staggered four-year terms. The Mayor is elected from within the council. Several advisory boards, commissions, and the City Manager support the City Council. The City Manager is appointed by Council and serves as the professional manager of the organization.
The City provides various services including planning, permitting, street maintenance, storm water, construction, Parks & Recreation and general administrative services. The King County Sheriff's Office and the Woodinville Fire & Life Safety District provide police and fire protection and the Woodinville Water District provides water and sewer services.
The Citys tourist district is home to world-class wineries: Chateau Ste Michelle, Columbia, DeLille Cellars and Silver Lake. Wine tasting and tours can be complimented by excellent dining at the Barking Frog and the Herb Farm restaurants, and by lodging at Willows Lodge. The world-famous Molbaks Nursery and green house are also located in Woodinville.
Each spring, Celebrate Woodinville, a community event, is host to the All Fools Day Parade, Basset Bash & Brigade and the Citys anniversary celebration of incorporation. The Fourth of July Fireworks Extravaganza and the Light Festival are also popular events.
